Bad Weather and Some New Information

by steve

In reading others’ stories, there seems to be a common thread when things don’t go as hoped in the time hoped. That common thread is the aspect that there is often some important bit of information that the waiting families don’t know. And that bit of information ends up becoming a factor.

Well, this morning was the permanency hearing for Hope Giver. All seemed to be lined up for a pretty straight forward case.

We got a bunch of snow and ice this weekend, and apparently some players weren’t able to make it to the hearing. And who are those players? Apparently legal counsel for the birth parents. And why does counsel for the birth parents need to be there?

Yeah, that was our question, too. There’s obviously something that we weren’t told. From what we can gather, it appears that in signing away the rights to Hope Giver, they still managed to retain some say in the placement decision. And because they weren’t there, the case was continued until the middle of next month.

So, we will continue to wait. And hope.

Disappointed? Yeah, you bet. Hurt? Maybe a little bit frustrated that we don’t feel like we know all the details. Details that seem important to us. Details that it seems not all the important players know about.

But we will continue to let the system work, and hope that next month will be the month we find out for sure.

    Steve,

I am so sorry brother. I will continue to pray as it is that is the only thing I know to do.

Our friends the Murrays, not the (Brandons and Heathers but the Jasons and Pennys) took over 18 months to formally adopt their child. She was coming from China though!

Keep your chin up! (You, too Christy!)

So sorry to hear about the legal hiccup. Yes, it does seem that info is sometimes set aside because it doesn’t *seem* important … and yet, it is! Praying for your family!

    Tony,

Thank you, brother. And yeah, the funny thing is that in all of this, the one thing I can’t complain about is how “slowly” things are moving, because it’s barely been two months since we first even met Hope Giver!

    Mary Grace,

Thank you, too, for your encouragement. By the way, if I haven’t told you yet, I love reading your blog. Your writing is always very interesting and enjoyable to read.
