A Breath of Fresh Air

by christy

While my sweet husband has been keeping you all updated on the progress, I have been processing this entire day, knowing that we would see something happen and feeling such a sense of peace about the whole day, but still waiting for that final phone call to inform us of our future with Hope Giver.

Now, we are so excited to know that we are another step closer to calling this incredible, bright and beautiful little girl our very own. At this point, we can file for adoption, which the decision that occurred today will enable us to do, and we will wait for that adoption to become final. We are told it could take up to 6 months for this to happen, but we are praying for all the pieces to fall into place much quicker than anyone expects!

This has been quite an emotional day for everyone involved—and let me just say that I echo what Steve has written about Hope Giver’s foster mom. What an incredible mother she is…and an incredible friend to us through this process. She really believed in us and believed that we could be the parents that Hope Giver needs, but there is no way we could repay her for all she has done for this little girl. She was exactly what Hope Giver needed for the time she was with her, God is faithful to provide exactly what we need when we need it, and Foster Mom was precisely that for Hope Giver. We look forward to many more years of friendship with Foster Mom!

As for the emotions that we are personally going through, this is something that we have waited for since Steve and I first met and fell in love. We knew that we wanted to have children together and hoped that those would be biological children. This has not happened for us. So, when we were encouraged, by a social worker in our county, to look into foster adoption, we began discussing this option. After this initial suggestion, we took a year to contemplate going down this path. We are so glad that we did! Even though Hope Giver is not biologically ours, our love for her has so much depth and intimacy that we can’t look at her as anything but born to be loved by us.

I am so glad to be called Steve’s wife. Without our unity and our deep love for each other , we would not be experiencing such joy at this moment. I feel that this is a time in our lives that has bonded us even closer, if that is possible. Praise our Father for uniting us as one so that we could provide the love that this precious child needs and deserves.

I thank God that we can say we are the parents of two beautiful children, each one with their own incredible gifts. I pray that they will both know just how much they are loved…by their parents and by their loving Father.
