Our Precious Little Girl

by steve

At this age of a toddler’s life (almost 20 months), it seems that the “cute” moments are too numerous to count. And if I blogged about every single one of them, it would be a full-time job for me, and you would never be able to keep up with this blog! ;)

But this one has to be blogged about, not just because of its “cute” factor, but because it is so precious!

At Easter, Hope Giver received a little board book that talks about all of the things related to our cultural Easter celebrations (bunnies, candy, dressing up, etc.), but then makes the point that the best part of Easter is Jesus. It wraps up the book with a short synopsis of the story of the good news of Jesus (the true “Hope Giver”!) and how much he loves each of us.

We’ve read that book to her several times already, and have tried to get her to speak and sign “Jesus”. It wasn’t coming out very clearly, but she was trying.

Shortly after that, Christy and I were watching her as she was playing by herself. She was acting like she wanted to take a nap, and she pulled a throw off the couch and started carrying it around.

Then, she dragged the blanket across the room, picked up her Easter book, and headed back across the room to the rocking chair. She climbed up in the chair and sat there with the blanket over her legs while rocking and “reading” her book.

But what was really cute was what she did next: She then got off the chair, dragged the blanket to the middle of the room, laid it on the floor and then laid down on it. Then, laying on her back there with her head on the blanket, she held the book open above her and started saying, “Jeeduh [Jesus], Jeeduh, Jeeduh.”

Too cute for words! And I hope that she will soon begin to understand just how important Jesus really is to us, and in her life as well.

We are blessed. Very blessed.

It is great to hear how things are going in your home! And what a beautiful, beautiful tale of your precious Hope Giver.

I miss ‘talking’ to you guys … things over here don’t allow for much online time for me. Some things gotta give, right?

    Holding you in our prayers,
    Laura

Hey, mind if I share my own cute story? Leah was sitting in my lap yesterday and did the typical reverse sucking noise when you are getting ready to sneeze. She splattered my shirt and then said, “Daddy, I blessed youed on your shirt. Sorry.”

HA! I love it. You guys are blessed indeed. Praying for you all.
